Architectural Fiasco and the Rest

Design Concepts |

For the theme Architectural Fiasco and the Rest, I interpret it as an exploration of the limitless possibilities and imaginations of architecture. Therefore, I use spatial arrangements and tangible materials to convey the abstract concept of time.

✓An instant in display:

Time flows continuously and invisibly, yet I aim to physically capture a single instant. By showcasing the movement of plaster, the work freezes the dynamic moment of its flow, transforming it into a spatial representation.

✓Express via the characteristic of materials:

During the design process, I experimented with various material properties to convey a sense of dynamism, mostly focusing on flexible and foldable materials. Among them, the unique characteristics of liquid plaster stood out and caught my attention: it gradually hardens with the warmth of hands, transforming from smooth and delicate to granular and viscous.

✓Chaotic time sequence:

If the plaster flows down and dries naturally, it fails to convey a strong sense of an "instantaneous" effect. Therefore, I disrupted the timeline by pouring the plaster from different angles in stages, allowing it to form distinct layers: the viscous part settling on top and the smooth, fluid part pooling at the bottom, giving the impression that it is still flowing and in motion.
